Welcommittees! - Activities Committee

In 'Welcommitees!' we present all new committees that started in September. We asked everyone to tell something about themselves and to answer three questions about their committee members. This episode we introduce you to the Activities Committee. Already responsible for some great events such as the Beer Cantus or the Classy Dinner, they have the highlight of all coming up: the City Trip to Prague!

Sophia

Hi! My name is Sophia and I’m 20 years old. Last year, I finished my first year of Econometrics, so this year I decided to join a committee at our great study association. I’m very happy to be in the AC (I’m sorry Kees, not you…) and I hope everyone will enjoy our events. I like to party, watch series, do sports and spend my money on (Christmas) stuff I don’t need. You can also find me in Polak a lot before the exams, it’s like my second home sometimes. My goal in life is to travel to as many different places/countries as possible.

When I got to the wardrobe to get my All Stars, I tripped and fell right in front of the desk

Of course, I want to organize the best City Trip ever with the AC. Besides that, there will be enough other events where you will have even more fun than at our Beer Cantus (if possible ;))

The most embarrassing thing I’ve ever experienced is a difficult question, because I tend to do a lot of stupid things. One thing that comes to mind was last year at the Interfaculty Gala. I wanted to switch from high heels to all-stars after a couple of hours (and many drinks…). When I got to the wardrobe to get my All Stars, I tripped and fell right in front of the desk (where you could hand in your number). I got up and asked as casual as possible if I could change my shoes. Luckily, I could continue the party safely and the people behind the desk had something to laugh about.

Charlotte

Hi there! My name is Charlotte, I’m 20 years old and I was raised in the best part of the Netherlands: Brabant! I’m in my second year of Economics/Econometrics and very happy to be part of the best study association ever: FAECTOR! Besides watching Netflix all day, I love to travel, do sports, hang out with friends and of course, shop for more very necessary shoes and clothes that I can’t afford!

Some years ago, I almost lost two fingers, because I thought I was strong enough to save a concrete pole, of over 150 kilos, from falling on the ground

Obviously, organizing the most amazing City Trip ever is our main goal. Besides that, organizing some (un)forgettable nights and just making sure everybody has a lot of fun and enough beers at our events!

Some years ago, I almost lost two fingers, because I thought I was strong enough to save a concrete pole, of over 150 kilos, from falling on the ground. It was at a big party, in front of a lot of people… Fortunately, I still have my fingers and only needed surgery, 30 stitches and a night in the hospital(!)…

Carolijn

Hey! My name is Carolijn and I am a second-year econometrics student who turned 19 on our beloved Active Members Dinner. Ever since PINKWIN I really enjoy being a member of FAECTOR. Green has always been my favorite color, although my favorite song is ‘Vandaag is Rood’ by MarCo Borsato. In my free time I like to party at Laurentius, cook with my roommates and do sports.

I woke up in a toilet somewhere in Antwerpen, 1,5 hours after the bus that FAECTOR rented had left

With the greatest committee, the AC (even better than Kees), I am going to achieve that you are going to experience that we can organize even better events than the Beer Cantus and give you the most awesome days of your life on the City Trip.

The first embarrassing thing that comes to mind is the moment I woke up in a toilet somewhere in Antwerpen, 1,5 hours after the bus that FAECTOR rented had left...

Eric

Before I started studying, I used to work in a ice cream shop. Over there, we had an amazing dishwasher which could clean the dirtiest stuff in just 20 seconds

Ola. I'm Eric and I’m 21 springs young. Before I started studying, I used to work in a ice cream shop. Over there, we had an amazing dishwasher which could clean the dirtiest stuff in just 20 seconds! Besides that, the ice cream was also very good. Especially the stroopwafel ice cream, which had these delightful crumbles in it. The place is located in Callantsoog. So if you're around the place, drop by, try the stroopwafel ice cream and say hi to my former boss Kees.

Enough about myself and my career. Let's move on to the Activities Committee, a bunch of druiven with too much spare time. My biggest goal with them is to organise an unforgettable City Trip. Well, at least partly unforgettable, some missing pieces of nights in the memory due to excessive liquor consumption is fine.

I've never been embarrassed.

Michael

Hey!! I’m Michael, a second-year econometrics student, 20 years old. I grew up in a small town called Elst (0481) and discovered a much greater and more beautiful city called Rotterdam as soon as I started my study here. Fortunately, FAECTOR was there to give me a lot of 50 cents beers to make Rotterdam feel like home immediately! Next to spending all my money in Concordia, I like playing drums in my free time. (Feel free to hit me up when you want to jam together!)

A friend told me I invited some strangers to get some döner with me and apparently I bought them some laughing gas/lachgas

I believe having fun with your committee is an important part to create the greatest events out there. I hope the Beer Cantus already showed you that! A lot of great events are just around the corner and I believe all of them will be as great or even better than the Beer Cantus. But I have to say, I can’t wait for the amazing City Trip which is waiting for all of us!

Once I was really drunk and a friend had to bring me home and dropped me around the corner of my street. But a great night doesn’t end like that, so I decided to get some döner. When I woke up the next day, I was quite shocked. Apparently, I spent €20+ on döner and I had no clue how. Luckily, a friend told me I invited some strangers to get some döner with me and apparently I bought them some laughing gas/lachgas. (Yes.. I didn’t know they sold laughing gas there either.)

I would say it was a fun experience and nothing to be ashamed of! Apparently I’m just really generous when I’m drunk.. ;).

Jeroen

Hi EstimatAr Committee,

I gave my fellow house oldste / huischgenoot / old chairman of the Estimator committee a kiss

My name is Jeroen and currently, I'm the secretary of FAECTOR's 51st board. Being the much used right hand of mister President (one of the many of FAECTOR) has always been my dream. Last year I was part of the Activities Committee, where we managed to come up with some great activities. Since I’m the supervisor right now, goals have been extended. We will exceed your expectations and the F5 button for subscribing for the City Trip will be used even more.

Luckily, I’m not that bad in creating embarrassing moments. One of those moments was at one of the legendary social drinks, where I won 10 euros by giving my fellow house oldste / huischgenoot / chairman of the Estimator committee a kiss.
