Second Years Cocktail Workshop

On 20th of September, the VIP Room opened its doors to a group of second year students interested in learning the art of mixing drinks. The participants had the chance to make and taste select cocktails under two professional bartenders’ guidance at this exclusive event. From the proper mixing movements to the right way to slap the fresh mint leaves, certain technicalities of cocktail making were taught during the workshop. In addition to the general knowledge of mixing, the FAECTORians learned to make Mojito and French 1975 cocktails. Here are the recipes for these two cocktails:

Mojito:

Ingredients:

  • 330ml glass
  • A quarter of lime
  • Brown sugar
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Crushed ice
  • Rum (2 shot glasses)
  • Sparkling water
  1. Place the lime inside the glass and brown sugar.
  2. Crush the lime until you get all the juice out.
  3. Take some mint leaves in your palm and slap them.
  4. Fill the glass with crushed ice until halfway.
  5. Add the rum and stir. Try to bring everything up with vertical moves.
  6. Fill the rest of the glass with crushed ice. Add sparkling water until its full and it’s ready!

French 1975:

Ingredients:

  • A cocktail shaker
  • A champagne glass
  • Lemon juice (¾ of a shot glass)
  • Simple syrup (¾ of a shot glass)
  • One shot of Gin (1 shot glass)
  • Crushed ice
  • Champagne
  • Cherry
  1. Add lemon juice, simple syrup and gin in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well.
  3. Fill half of a champagne glass with the mixture and add champagne until its full.
  4. Add a cherry and enjoy!
