Meet the 58th board of FAECTOR!

As the constitution drink is taking place tonight to celebrate the installing of FAECTORs 58th board, it’s a good time to introduce them to you and gain insights into their roles, backgrounds, and discover what sets them apart. The 58th board brings a unique blend of talents, experiences, and enthusiasm to lead FAECTOR to greater heights.

Frank de Rooij – President

I am Frank de Rooij. I am from Delft. After high school, I played college football in the US for one year, to then start with econometrics in 2020. I finished it in three years and am enjoying being the president of FAECTOR this year. Something people might not be aware of about me is that I can solve a Rubik's Cube blindfolded.

Can you briefly describe your role on the 58th board?

My role as the presidents mostly intakes knowing everything that is going on with everybody. I need to see FAECTOR as a whole, and make sure each part is functioning like it should. I need to be aware of difficulties fellow board member experience and give them a helping hand when needed. Besides this, I am the one representing FAECTOR in meetings with other associations.

How have your background and previous experiences prepared you for this role?

In high school, I have always been in the student council. The last two years, I was even president. This thought me a lot about how meetings go and how important it is to make sure everybody attending is listened to. Subsequently, my year playing football in America, has taught me a lot about hard work and discipline, two things very important during a board year. Lastly, my experience with the Eerstejaarcommissie and Recruitment Committee has shown me the amazing things FAECTOR is capable of.

What's your favourite quote or motto that inspires you in your role on the board?

'What if it turns out better than you can imagine'

What was your favourite FAECTOR moment during your studies?

Some of my favourite moments are participating in the business trip to Dubai, the city trip to Porto and enjoying all the after exam drinks.

What's the most enjoyable aspect of being on the board so far?

All the people I get to meet. The freshmen at PINKWIN or PENGUIN, members at FAECTOR events, all the people joining committees and other boards in and outside of Rotterdam. It is just amazing to make all the connections.

What makes the 58th the best board?

The balance between working hard and having fun. Everybody is doing everything they can to improve FAECTOR, but on the other hand, I feel like we are just a group of friends doing fun things.

Veerle Goorden – Commercial Officer

Hi! My name is Veerle Goorden and I am 22 years old. I love travelling and playing sports. A fun fact about me is that I live on a farm but I am afraid of almost every animal.

Can you briefly describe your role on the 58th board?

As Commercial Officer, I am mainly responsible for the acquisition of the association. This means that I look for interesting companies for Econometricians and try to collaborate with them.

How have your background and previous experiences prepared you for this role?

Before starting my board year, I used to row competitively for three years. During that time, I learned to work hard in order to win. This is useful as Commercial Officer since the goal is to always get the best deal as possible.

What's your favourite quote or motto that inspires you in your role on the board?

"Wat rijmt er op voetbalveld?"

What was your favourite FAECTOR moment during your studies?

In my first year, I joined the Ski Trip and the Active Members' Weekend which were both a lot of fun! A few weeks after those events, the lockdown started. So, in hindsight, these events became even more memorable.

What's the most enjoyable aspect of being on the board so far?

The fact that the days at the office can become so funny out of nowhere.

What makes the 58th the best board?

We are all very creative, so I am sure that for every problem we encounter, we can find a solution!

Heleen te Koppele – Educational Officer

Hi everybody, I am Heleen! I have lived in Rotterdam for the past few years, but I am originally from The Hague. Besides this, I am 21 years old, like running and love Italian cooking. Very few people know that I have moved ten times in my life, across different countries and continents.

Can you briefly describe your role on the 58th board?

As Educational Officer, I am responsible for the educational portfolio of FAECTOR. This includes the Excellence Programme and the FAECTOR Consultancy Programme. Besides this I do all the communication with the ESE and help with organising events for the university.

How have your background and previous experiences prepared you for this role?

I think a lot of different things have prepared me for this role. In my studies I learned to persevere when things get hard. Also, student associations helped me develop my social skills and become less shy.

What's your favourite quote or motto that inspires you in your role on the board?

"Laten we er met zijn allen maar het beste van maken"

What was your favourite FAECTOR moment during your studies?

My favourite FAECTOR moment was the ski trip in my first year. I am a very bad skier, so I spent most of my time eating schnitzels and drinking beer, great experience ;)

What's the most enjoyable aspect of being on the board so far?

I enjoy spending time at the office with my board members, enjoy meeting people of different study phases and like the cobo's.

Lotte Struik – Treasurer

Hi! My name is Lotte and I just turned 22 years old. I was born in Amsterdam but spent 10 years living in the UK close to London, and I have always been to international schools. Next to studying I like to spend my time with friends or doing small creative projects. For example, I love painting plant pots or other decorations :))

Can you briefly describe your role on the 58th board?

I'm the treasurer of the 58th board so my role involves overseeing the financial administration of FAECTOR. This means I am usually busy with paying or sending invoices and making sure all the money is going to the right places.

How have your background and previous experiences prepared you for this role?

I don't think there is really an experience that can prepare you for, or be compared to a board year! I think all my previous experiences and personality has allowed me to learn about myself and know my strengths and weaknesses and I hope I can use these to have a fun and smooth year in the FAECTOR board.

What's your favourite quote or motto that inspires you in your role on the board?

Fake it till you make it ;)

What was your favourite FAECTOR moment during your studies?

My favourite moments were definitely during all of the after-exam drinks that I have been to the past years! I also do have to mention the business trip to Seoul from last year. This was definitely one of the most fun experiences and a highlight during my studies!

What's the most enjoyable aspect of being on the board so far?

So far, I am really enjoying meeting so many new people. Not only other boards from other associations but also FAECTOR members from all the various study levels that I never would have met if I wasn't on the board.

What makes the 58th the best board?

Our gorgeous looks ;) Joking of course. I think we are a really fun board and we like to have a good time. Everyone is always in for a drink and some singing and dancing!

Jesse Dijkstra – Marketing and Innovation Officer

Hello! My name is Jesse and I am the Marketing & Innovation Officer of FAECTOR this year. I am 22 and finished the double bachelor last year. An interesting fact is that Roos and I share the same birthday and our sisters do too!

Can you briefly describe your role on the 58th board?

As Marketing & Innovation Officer, I am mostly responsible for the professional appearance of FAECTOR offline as well as online, and innovation within FAECTOR. The committees I supervise are the IT Committee, the Marketing Committee and the Ski Trip Committee.

How have your background and previous experiences prepared you for this role?

I was in the Marketing Committee two years ago and learned a lot about InDesign. After that, I was in the Econometric Career Days Committee as Marketing Officer & Secretary. I improved my design skills there a lot, which prepared me very well for the role.

What's your favourite quote or motto that inspires you in your role on the board?

Less is more.

What was your favourite FAECTOR moment during your studies?

All of the After Exam Drinks, the Ski Trips, and the legendary Active Members Weekends.

What's the most enjoyable aspect of being on the board so far?

Meeting so many people from different years.

What makes the 58th the best board?

Because we take care of our lovely fish very well (unlike EFR)

Marjolie Huis – Career Officer

Hi! My name is Marjolie and I am the Career Officer of the 58th board of FAECTOR. I’m 22 years old and just finished my bachelor in Econometrics. Besides studying, I like doing sports, sailing, and going out with friends! A little-known fact that most people might not be aware of is that I can play the violin.

Can you briefly describe your role on the 58th board?

In my role as a Career Officer, I handle a variety of tasks. I oversee most of the Career activities that FAECTOR has to offer, from guiding the Econometric Career Days committee to organizing events like Find Your Match and the Financial Markets Tour 2024. Additionally, I collaborate with Veerle to manage a part of the acquisition.

How have your background and previous experiences prepared you for this role?

I think that I have a lot of different experiences that prepared me for this role all in a different way. Such as going on exchange, working in a conference hotel. They all learned me different assets that I still use today. Besides that, the Ski Trip and ECD committee learned me a lot about the workings within FAECTOR.

What was your favourite FAECTOR moment during your studies?

I think the Ski trip 2023 is my favourite moment, this was organised by my committee and it was a great success!

What's the most enjoyable aspect of being on the board so far?

What I enjoy most so far, is getting to know my fellow board members. I like working in the office with them, especially with all the members that come for their coffee breaks :)

What makes the 58th the best board?

As a group, we all bring different qualities and personalities to the table. Besides that, we are all very motivated and creative. I think that combination is what makes us the best.

Roos Munnik – Secretary

Hii! My name is Roos Munnik and I am 21 years old. I have just finished my bachelor's, which required a lot of work, but I can finally start my board year with my fellow board members to which I really look forward! Furthermore, I like playing sports and started kickboxing a few years ago besides that I enjoy the terrace which is convenient since I live just around the corner of Oude Haven. A little-known fact about me (and one of my board members) is that Jesse and I share our birthday. Just like our sisters ;).

Can you briefly describe your role on the 58th board?

I am the Secretary of the 58th board. This means that I am in close contact with all of the members of FAECTOR, do the administration and together with my committees organise a lot of social events. Besides that, I supervise the committee writing the articles on the website that you are reading right now. Namely the Estimator committee!!

How have your background and previous experiences prepared you for this role?

When I was in my first year, I joined the Eerstejaarscommissie in which I first got in contact with FAECTOR and have learned to organise events and work together in a team. Afterwards I did the Internal Activities Committee in which I was in close contact with all of our active members. And this year I started in the Econometric Career Days committee in which I learned more about the career side of FAECTOR by doing the acquisition. Unfortunately, I had to leave this committee together with my current board members Marjolie en Jesse. By participating in all of these committees I have got to know FAECTOR from different sides (and already had a little taste of some of the people I will spend the rest of my year with ;)).

What was your favourite FAECTOR moment during your studies?

As I had many FAECTOR moments during my studies choosing one is very hard. But the Active Members Weekends are at the top of my list!

What's the most enjoyable aspect of being on the board so far?

I think that I enjoy being at the office the whole day. Seeing everyone at their best and at their worst can really bonding. Furthermore, we are never alone since our members always make great use of the free coffee at the office!

What makes the 58th the best board?

We are a really motivated group who will build upon everything the 57th Board has accomplished. I think that with all our enthusiasm we will pass on FAECTORs message to all students and turn their hearts green.
